Product Discovery Seminar for Military Photographers
(Phoenix) The seminar on unique camera accessories from Photipherals, held at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, the first week of November 2009, was a great forum to exchange ideas and create “product discovery.” The combined experience of the attendees who have worked in the photography and videography arenas easily totals hundreds of years. As attendees handled IonosGear1 they saw immediately how the case created a dustless and protective environment, not just for lens changing and sensor cleaning applications, but for still and video captures in hostile environments from rain to the talc-like dust of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Rick Beitman presented Photiperhals’ product roadmap that outlined a second generation to IonosGear, an antifungal unit, and a variety of power recharging technologies.
IonosGear II, clean room in a case, will be adapted to create multiple configurations in the coming months. It can be used as a still photography or video shooting platform to be hand-held, mounted on a tri-pod or stabilized on a metallic surface. Photographers will have available a silent shooting option and the case will create a dust and moisture controlled environment with a coated glass front that can also be “hardened.”
An anti-fungal unit can be used with either generation of IonosGear, the lens changing, sensor cleaning case. High humidity environments have been creating fungal growth in lenses and camera bodies. Within minutes the anti-fungal unit can sanitize the camera and components, but to be most effective this should be done prior to the equipment being taken into high humidity to help kill off matter that promotes mildew and fungus. Follow on treatments will help slow or prevent growth that potentially could damage interior protective coatings.
The power technologies will give photographers greater recharging flexibility and mobility. Battery rechargers will give universal options thereby reducing the weight of units and interoperability for multiple camera options. Solar sources and adapter will give operators in remote locations a variety of recharging options whether they are out shooting away from power source for the day or for extended periods.
Right now the photographic community has available a portable, light weight case to protect sensors from dust. It is a perfect gift for the digital photographer who wants to protect their current equipment or to keep their newest acquisition particulate free for longer periods of time.
